I found this book to be interesting, confusing and (perhaps) a bit contradictory.

I have a problem with Ghee being touted as much healthier than the butter from which it is derived while simultaneously telling the reader NOT to use it for health reasons.
If you look at location 64 on your Kindle, the author states that (paraphrasing here) Ghee is rich in HDL "good cholesterol" which pulls LDL "bad cholesterol" out of the blood for excretion. Now to me, that sounds like a God-send for folks with cholesterol problems, yet shortly thereafter, (location 85) the author states that "you should completely avoid ghee if you are obese or have high cholesterol". Hummm. Additionally the author says it's okay to consume ghee if you are not overweight and are free from cardiovascular disease. Double Hummm. Now if this fantastic product is so incredibly healthy and has such a profound effect on HDL cholesterol as well as myriad additional benefits, why the absolute admonishment against its use to control HDL vs LDL levels???

The book explains the process of turning salt free butter into ghee which is handy for those who wish to make their own. The author has also added a number of recipes which feature using ghee, rather than other fats and oils, and many of them look tasty.

Bottom line is this, if you are looking for a butter substitute because you are having cholesterol, heart or obesity problems...according to the author, forget this one; so in my opinion, "why bother"? Conversely, if you are "healthy", you might consider adding ghee to your diet... after you get approval from your doctor.

Good info. Ghee may well be healthier, but it is not something that I would use very often. One of these days I will make some and keep it in the fridge for occasional use.
It’s amazing what ghee can be used for. I’ve been using it for a couple years but didn’t realize the medical portion of it.
I'm so happy that I found this book. it's filled with so many information from the history and benefits of ghee, all the way to how to properly prepare it at home. I have been making my wn ghee, though It is not butter from grass-fed cows. I can't wait to go to the Indian grocery tomorrow to get myself a bottle of ghee goodness. Great read!

Never heard of Ghee before reading this very informative and short booklet. After 30 minutes you may not be an expert on Ghee; but, you will be an authority on the subject matter.

This is a comprehensive book that gives the history of ghee, the medical benefits, the culinary benefits, how to make it yourself, and includes many wonderful recipes for using ghee. The author wrote well, the book is easy and entertaining to read, and it really motivates you to try ghee.

I enjoyed learning how to make my own ghee and I cannot wait to try these recipes she includes - there are a bunch of them and they all sound tantalizing.
