Once you start this story, it grips you subtle in a way that you'll be in 50 pages before looking up and wondering where the time went.'Destinee' is a fun novel and a quick read, with chemistry between the two main characters.
The town of Langston is an interesting, majority-black socialite town where the elite and old wealth rub shoulders with young money. The book spans over several years with Destinee being the star as she pines over her super wealthy, unattainable boss. Following her is fun. The main character has pretty high standards and is a bit bourgeois, but her work ethic and desires are admirable.
Her boss is hot, yet a bit stony towards her. Things only start heating up between the two later on.
The story is a bit fast-paced. The end felt a little too soon and nicely wrapped up. I would have liked to learn more about Langston as well as Edward's past. Destinee sure spent a lot of time pining! I wonder if more incidents had occurred between her and Edward?

Loved the book ! I would love to see how Destinee and Edwards relationship evolves after marriage and also see more of Edwards POV. What made Destinee stand out to him ? Why did he take sooo long to say....(wont spoil it haha)

This was a slow read for me and too mushy. But, finally a HEA happens for Edward Johnson, Attorney at Law and the most eligible bachelor in Langston who hires Destinee Jones from Rosedale as his personal assistant. She was shy but astute and not really a worldly woman with a lot of experience in 💘. The go on a date, fall in love, she moves away to NY to live/work, returns to town, he professes his 💘/proposes, and they get married. The End...?
I may read the sequel and Book 3 of this Novella series.
A real page turner! I didn't want it to end. Hope to see more!

This story was about a woman who was trying to live out her dreams and to be a woman of integrity. I really enjoyed reading this book. It kept my attention. I felt as if I was with the main character throughout her journey. There were parts that made me laugh, be sad and kept me wondering what would happen next. I don't want to say much because I don't want to give the story away. It was wonderful and compelling love story. This story will be great with a sequel.
